Dow has an exciting job opening for a Contractor R&D Technologist in the Process Chemistry & Technology Development team within Packaging, Specialty Plastics & Hydrocarbons R&D. This job offers an exceptional opportunity to join a growing R&D organization in Europe and to contribute to solve the challenges of today and tomorrow in areas such as Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction and Waste Plastics Recycling. 

In this role, you will provide technical support in the preparation and execution of experimental tests for the development and commercialization of new and more sustainable process technologies for the production of olefins. You will work in a diverse, multidisciplinary and self-directed team of engineers, chemists, and technologists.

  • You lead and operate in a safe manner, foster a safety culture, and collaborate with the rest of the team to drive compliance with safety related requirements and standards.
  • You perform routine and non-routine operations of complex laboratory and testing rig equipment, and you do so autonomously after receiving the necessary training.
  • You collaborate with your project team to develop experimental plans and generate data with the appropriate levels of detection, precision, and accuracy, and you recommend, and implement variations in existing methods or come with new approaches.
  • You analyze data, identify underlying causes, communicate results with your project team using appropriate tools (presentations, reports, emails, …); you make recommendations, and do so in a timely manner; you search information, and research topics required for carrying out your work.
  • You define and implement new testing methods which may require creating novel configurations of existing equipment or the development and fabrication of new equipment.
  • You identify the need for and are involved in implementing continued improvements in processes, procedures, or technologies to improve the overall team performance and effectiveness.

Dit ben jij

Dit zoeken we in onze R&D/TS&D Technician

  • You have a Bachelor’s (HBO) Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering, Chemistry, or related discipline. 
  • You have a VCA-VOl or you are willing to achieve it
  • You have prior professional experience, or you have just finished your studies and are looking to give the best of yourself in a first job.
  • You have prior experience in constructing and operating testing rig equipment and/or high-pressure reactors or you have a strong desire to learn.
  • You have prior experience with the calibration and operation of laboratory reactor control elements such as mass flow controllers, control valves, and analyzers or you are very curious to start working with these.
  • You are well organized, can manage multiple projects and other activities in parallel in a dynamic environment, or you are eager to grow these competencies.
  • You are a good listener, communicate and interact well with people at all levels.
  • You work autonomously but are a real team player, putting team success ahead of your own.
  • You bring a can-do attitude to the workplace but with a strong safety-first mindset.
  • You have good knowledge of English; you are fluent in Dutch or you are committed to learn Dutch in short time (training will be provided).
